As far as I'm concerned-

Summer officially begins today! The girls have a half day today and then *they* are done! I look forward to sleeping in tomorrow.

Sneaky Madeline surprised me yesterday at her Honors Day. Turns out she *knew* she was getting the award for being the TOP AR reader in her grade, and she kept it a secret! Her teacher pulled me aside afterward and said how excited she and the rest of the team teachers were when they found out she would be getting the award. Suffice it to say, we are VERY proud of her! Bella didn't get any awards, but we are proud of her too. Her spelling grade kept her from making Honor Roll, and I know she was disappointed. But I told her it just gave her a goal to work on for next year.

I've been busy rearranging the house, and so far I haven't spent any money. :P I'm trying to be more frugal. I'd like to make it through the summer with most of my last paycheck left. We'll see, I guess. At any rate, moving things around always makes me feel like I have new stuff, and I'm pretty happy with the changes. For now. ;)

Our big summer fun is a trip to U.S. Space and Rocket Musuem in Huntsville, AL. We're going to be staying with a family friend and I'm looking forward to seeing her. She works at the center and is going to give us a "Behind the Scenes" tour! I'd be lying if I said I was *very* excited for this. :P

The girlies should be home momentarily. When they get here we'll clean out the backpacks and lunchboxes and then hide them away until AUGUST!!! Woo-Hoo!!

School doesn't end here until Thursday of next week! I can't wait. We don't really have any summer vacation plans yet, but I'm sure we'll come up with something :) The US Space and Rocket Museum sounds like so much fun. Enjoy!

I'm so impressed with your girls! What achievers.

I'm sorry I'm such a slacker about replying to your fabulous comment. I always have found it very difficult to get livejournal to sign me in (I apparently did NOT do a good job when I picked a password). This makes me so happy to have it finally dawn on me that you have a blogger account (hence you could sign in- thanks slowly fading sleep deprivation!) that would be linked to a blog I COULD easily comment on.

At any rate, I really appreciated your very thoughtful and heartfelt response. I have really enjoyed the housewife blog you suggested.

And now, perhaps I can return the favor...

1st- My go to source for fabulous decorating ideas on a teeny budget is this one: http://nestingplacenc.blogspot.com/

2nd- This woman gives fabulous book recs during the course of her postings. She has a daughter about the same age as your oldest so there would probably be some overlap or at least things to look forward to.

The last week is always the hardest, isn't it?

Have you ever been to the museum? My family went *years* ago, and it was awesome. It's the home of Space Camp, and there is so much to see. Your kids would love it, Katheryn!

Becky! I'm so glad to "see" you here! I love reading your blog (when you update it :P). You'll be happy to know I crosspost a lot of LJ stuff here, so don't worry about missing anything.

Thanks for the compliment and suggestions. I'll have to check out those sites. :)

I just read Harry a History and now my curiosity is re-piqued.

In a comment to puzzle the masses...

Does a certain number have to do with Trouble in Paradise or The Paradigm of Uncertainty?

She has a whole section on the shipping wars and how much she adored (s) the SQ. I never realized she was Jedi Bodicia although, that's an inference... All right, back to TIP, I didn't want to read through the H/H madness if I didn't have to... ;-)

Have you watched "Summer Magic" yet? It isn't summer till we have seen it. I am so proud of my girls and can't wait till they are back over here.

Ahhh, so much for my inferential skills. She's very oblique when she refers to Jedi so I made a leap.

Anyway, I have almost reached my limit with TIP. I can soldier on if I must but I have a few theories that I thought I would throw out.

1- 87 is the number of pages before the SQ contingent had to stop reading or be forced to drink themselves into oblivion.

2- 87 is the number of times she had the nerve to use Moey's name.

3- 87 is the number of chapters it would take to save this hot mess. ;-)

4- 87 is the number of minutes they will never get back from reading this, ugh!

A very good guess is sufficient for me. I can down end the niggling curiosity that would periodically rear it's head. And, no, I just can't believe it! Harry, A History got me onto it since she made a small segment about Angie not being quite as she seemed- I had always thought she was reasonably polite, as things go.

I miss the early days of the SQ. I never quite got back to it after they got off ezboard and then I moved on to GT as I leaned more strongly H/g than R/h. If course, then it imploded and I never found a home I liked as well. sigh...

Space and Rocket Museum sounds great! We might have to try that sometime.

You know you always have a place to stay, if you want a vacation to Memphis:)
